Templat:he-translation

Daripada Wiktionary

Use[sunting]

This template is intended to be used in translation-lists in articles on English words; it complements {{he-link}}, which is intended to be used wherever an article on an English word links to a Hebrew translation.

The template takes two arguments. The first argument is a Hebrew word, phrase, or combining form; the second argument is a romanized version of said Hebrew word, phrase, or combining form, conforming to the description in Wiktionary:About Hebrew. (The second argument can be omitted; when this happens, the article is placed in Category:Articles missing romanizations of Hebrew.)

So, for example, the article cow might include the following code:

{{he-translation|פרה|pará}} {{f}}

in one of its translation lists, thereby producing the following text:

פרה (he) (pará) f

Multiple translations can appear on the same line; for example, this code:

{{he-translation|פר|pár}} {{m}}, {{he-translation|פרה|pará}} {{f}}

produces the following text:

פר (he) (pár) m, פרה (he) (pará) f

Vocalized and defective spellings[sunting]

It is currently not recommended to expend the effort giving vocalized spellings (spellings with vowels) and defective spellings (old-fashioned spellings with fewer yuds and vavs), because it has not yet been decided whether to give such spellings in translation lists; editors who wish to do so, however, may use the template's wv (for "with vowels"), ds (for "defective spelling"), and/or dswv (for "defective spelling, with vowels") named parameters.

The wv parameter becomes the displayed text of the link, but does not affect the link target. For example, this code:

{{he-translation|פרה|pará|wv=פָּרָה}}

produces the following text:

פָּרָה (he) (pará)

and this code:

{{he-translation|דיבר|dibér|wv=דִיבֵר|ds=דבר|dswv=דִבֵר}}

produces the following text:

דִיבֵר(he)/דִבֵר(he) (dibér)

For obvious reasons, the dsvw named parameter has no effect unless ds is specified as well. Other than this, there are no dependencies among the various parameters.

Multiple romanizations[sunting]

Multiple romanizations may be included simply by including multiple romanizations in the second parameter. For example, this code:

{{he-translation|לפה|l'pó/l'fó}}

produces the following text:

לפה (he) (l'pó/l'fó)

This accommodates cases where the usual pronunciation differs from that implied by the traditional/grammatical vocalization, or put another way, where the traditional/grammatical vocalization differs from that implied by the usual pronunciation.

It has not yet been discussed at Wiktionary:About Hebrew whether and in which cases such multiple romanizations should be used, and if so and in which cases, which romanization should be listed first.
